Return iQ 4 devices to factory settings and reset their authentication tokens
You can use SMART Remote Management to remotely return a device to its factory settings as described below. Alternatively, you can use a trigger to initiate the wiping of a device at a scheduled time or when a specific event takes place.
Important
If you perform a factory reset locally at the display using its settings, you must unenroll the device in SMART Remote Management and re-enroll it to avoid issues.
To return a device to factory settings
Click Devices
to open the Devices view.Click the device’s row.
The device’s dashboard window appears.
Click Lock, and then click Wipe.
Click Yes.
After the factory reset is complete, the device is automatically enrolled again in SMART Remote Management with the same tags and group it had previously.
To return a device to factory settings using the devices settings
Follow your device’s instructions for a factory reset.
Sign in to SMART Remote Management and click Devices
to open the Devices view.Choose how you want the device to be enrolled again:
In the same domain account with the same tags and group:
Click the token reset warning icon that appears next to the device. This resets the authentication token, and the device enrolls again with the same tags and group.

In another domain account, or in the same domain account but with different tags and group:
Unenroll the device from the current domain account to prevent enrollment issues, then enroll again.
For security reasons, the first handshake between a device and SMART Remote Management generates an authentication token. This token is stored on SMART Remote Management and on the device.
You can generate a new authentication token for a device if the original authentication token was lost.
Note
If you’ve never enrolled a device in SMART Remote Management, it should not have an authentication token. However, in rare situations, such as when you receive a replacement SMART Board interactive display that was previously enrolled in SMART Remote Management on another domain account, a device that you haven’t enrolled in SMART Remote Management might have an authentication token. In these situations, contact SMART support (smarttech.com/contactsupport) to reset the device’s authentication token.
