Sharing from an iPhone or iPad

To share using AirPlay

1. Open SMART Mirror on the display.

   The home screen for sharing opens, showing you the information you’ll need to connect.

   Note 

   If using an iQ 3 display, the button will appear as Screen Share.

2. Follow the instructions for your device to use AirPlay. See Apple Support.

   Important 

   If your device is connected to a different network than the display, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on both the device and the display before trying to connect. Otherwise, the device must be on the same network as the display to connect. Learn more about troubleshooting BLE discovery using AirPlay and SMART Mirror.

3. Select the display’s name. The name of the display is shown either in the screen's upper right corner or on the left side.

To set up an iPad for Touchback

1. On the iPad, open SettingsAccessibilityTouchAssistiveTouch.

2. Tap AssistiveTouch to enable it.

3. Scroll to POINTER DEVICES and tap Mouse Keys

4. Enable the Mouse Keys toggle.

To share using AirPlay with Touchback

1. Ensure the iPad is set up for Touchback.

2. Start SMART Mirror with Bluetooth enabled.

3. Share the iPad to the display using AirPlay.

4. Open the menu on the display and tap Touchback.

5. When prompted, allow Bluetooth discoverability for 120 seconds.

6. On the iPad, open SettingsBluetooth.

7. Find the display in the list and connect via Bluetooth.

   You can now control the iPad from the display.

   Note 

   Do not connect more than one iPad to a display at a time. If switching iPads, ensure the previous one has fully disconnected from Bluetooth before connecting a new device.

The SMART Mirror app is an alternate method of sharing your device’s screen, and it might be useful when the network doesn’t support AirPlay. The app also includes several tools that aid in presenting and collaborating.

To share your Apple device’s screen on the display using the SMART Mirror app

1. Download the SMART Mirror app for your device.

2. Open SMART Mirror on the display.

   The home screen for sharing opens, showing you the information you’ll need to connect.

   Note 

   If using an iQ 3 display, the button will appear as Screen Share.

3. Open the SMART Mirror app on your device.

4. Connect to a display by entering the session ID, or using the single-click option (if it has been set up on the display):

   • Use a session ID

     1. Enter the ID shown on the display.

        If the SMART Mirror home screen displays a 6- or 10-digit session ID, type the session ID. The number of digits indicates whether your device needs to be on the same network as the display:

        • 6 digits: SMART Mirror is connected to the internet, allowing a connection across any network. When connecting using a 6-digit session ID, you can connect from anywhere. You do not need to be on the same network as the display.

        • 10 digits: SMART Mirror allows local connections only. To connect using a 10-digit session ID, your device must be on the same network as the display.

          Tip 

          You can change this setting on the display.

     2. Enter your name.

     3. Click Connect.

   • Use single-click (iPad Only)

     1. If you haven’t signed in as a teacher, enter your name.

     2. Choose the display and select Join.

        

        Note 

        If you do not see the display listed, make sure your device is on the same network as the display, and that the display is set to be discoverable.

5. Your device displays a list of apps to use for sharing. Select the SMART Mirror app (1) from the list and tap Start broadcast (2).

   

6. This table describes what you can do after your device has connected to the display:

   Option	Description	Steps
   Share your device’s screen	Share your device’s entire screen.	Tap Present. Tap. Select SMART Mirror App in the list of apps. Tap Start Broadcast.
   Upload a file, photo, video, or link to share	Add a file such as a PDF, image, video, or link from your device. Shared videos and links can be opened on the display. Others who've connected their devices to the display using SMART Mirror can open any shared files and download them to their devices. After a session ends, all shared files are removed.	Tap Shared items. Tap Add items. Choose the item type and select the file you want. The file is added to the session's shared files.
   Moderate the session (iPad only)	Choose who can share the screen. Note  Before you can use this feature, make sure it’s enabled in SMART Mirror’s settings.	SeeInvite and manage presenters from your device
   Enhanced grid control (iPad only)	Manage the grid view more effectively by making connected students full-screen or minimizing them directly from your own device. This eliminates the need to approach the display, offering greater convenience and flexibility during sessions.	SeeUse the grid view
   Remote control (iPad only)	Take full control of a SMART Board display from anywhere in the classroom. Note  Before you can use this feature, make sure it’s enabled in SMART Mirror’s settings.	SeeUse your device as a remote control
   Stop sharing	Stop sharing your device’s screen.	Open the SMART Mirror app. Tap. Click Stop Broadcasting. Your screen is no longer shared, and you’re returned to the SMART Mirror home screen.

   Note 

   Moderator and remote control options are only available if you’ve connected as a teacher.
