Change settings for the display’s screen share app
You can choose a variety of settings for sharing device screens to the SMART Board interactive display:
The room name: choose a unique name to help people easily identify the display when trying to share to it.
Enable floating session ID: choose to turn on the floating session ID window to help people easily find the session information for connecting their devices.
Enable unlimited device connections: turn on unlimited connections so that everyone in the room can connect to the screen sharing session.
Choose to allow connections from any network: set whether devices need to be on the same network to share to the display.
Add security to control who can share to the display: turn on settings that prevent unwanted sharing to the display.
Change the settings to broadcast your display’s content: turn on settings to share your screen with other participants and displays.
SMART Mirror uses the room name for your SMART Board. If the app is opened for the first time using a display, or after a factory reset, the default room name matches the Board Name shown in the display’s iQ settings. Otherwise, the default room name may be iQH811 or iQM995.
To change the room name, tap Settings from the SMART Mirror home screen and select GeneralRoom Name.
On the display, tap Screen Share to open SMART Mirror’s home screen.
Tap Settings.
Tap Session managementFloating ID and select either On or Off.
Notes
Moderator mode is required for this setting. When you enable unlimited connections, moderator mode is automatically turned on.
Devices must use the SMART Mirror client app to connect to the session. AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast receivers will be disabled.
On the display, tap Screen Share to open SMART Mirror’s home screen.

Tap Session managementUnlimited connections and select either On or Off.

Choose whether a local connection is required to connect and share to the display. When local connection is enabled, devices must be on the same network as the display to connect and share their screens. When this setting is disabled, devices on different networks can connect using the SMART Mirror app or the web app (smartmirror.link).
To change local connection options for SMART Mirror
On the display, tap Screen Share to open SMART Mirror’s home screen.
Tap Settings.
Tap SecurityLocal connections only and select either On or Off.
Note
Devices using native screen sharing tools (for example, AirPlay or Google Cast) must be on the same network to connect regardless of whether this setting is enabled or disabled.
Turn on Moderator mode to control who presents. When this setting is enabled, people who have connected devices must be invited to share their screen from the display. This helps prevent people from taking over screen sharing before you want them to.
On the display, tap Screen Share to open SMART Mirror’s home screen.
Tap Settings.
Tap Session ManagementModerator mode and select either On or Off.
Now you can invite connected devices to present.
Use display options to enable or disable broadcasting your screen to other participants or displays.
To change broadcast settings
On the display, tap Screen Share to open SMART Mirror’s home screen.
Tap Settings.
Tap Display Options.
Select Broadcast to participants or Broadcast to displays and select either On or Off.
Now you can broadcast the display.
Choose whether devices can use native screen sharing tools, such as AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast to share to the display.
To change screen share protocols for SMART Mirror
On the display, tap Screen Share to open SMART Mirror’s home screen.
Tap Settings.
Tap Network & Connections. You can now turn the following options on or off:
AirPlay Receiver: Turn on to allow devices to share using AirPlay.
Tip
To allow devices using AirPlay to share to the display even if they are on a different network than the display, make sure that Bluetooth is enabled in the display’s iQ settings.
Google Cast receiver: Turn on to allow devices to share using Google Cast.
Miracast receiver: Turn on to allow devices to share using Miracast (SMART Mirror 4.16 and later).
Cloud Connections: Not applicable.
On the display, tap Screen Share to open SMART Mirror’s home screen.
Tap Settings.
Tap Session ManagementWhiteboard and select either On or Off.
You can choose to change the following settings for sharing device screens to the SMART Board interactive display:
The display name: choose a unique name to help people easily identify the display when trying to share to it.
Add security to control who can share to the display: turn on settings that prevent unwanted sharing to the display.
You can change the name to make it easier for people to identify the device when trying to connect and share their screen.
To change the name
Go to the iQ Home screen.
Tap Settings.
Navigate to the About section and tap Board Name.
Choose a name for the display.
Enable permissions to receive a prompt on the display to allow device connection.
To enable permissions
From the iQ Home screen, tap Settings.
Select Screen Share.
Turn the Require Permissions setting On. A prompt will appear on the display when a device tries to share to the display.
Choose whether devices can use native screen sharing tools, such as AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast to share to the display.
To change screen share protocols for SMART Screen Share
On the display, tap Settings.
Tap Screen Share. You can now turn the following protocol support on or off:
AirPlay
Google Cast
Miracast
