Sharing from a Windows computer
For Windows computers, you can use the following methods to share the computer's screen:

Important
To avoid experiencing issues while using screen sharing, make sure the network is properly configured.
You can use Miracast to connect to displays that have the SMART Screen Share app or SMART Mirror app and share your Windows device’s screen.
Notes
Make sure the device is connected to the same network as the display.
Only one computer using Miracast can share its screen at a time.
The display must have SMART Mirror 4.16 or later installed to support Miracast.
Miracast is available for Windows 10 and 11. Check with your device’s manual to see if it supports Miracast.
To share a Windows computer's desktop using Miracast
From the display’s Home screen, tap Screen Share.
The home screen for sharing opens, showing you the information you’ll need to connect.
On the computer, open the action center , then select Connect.
Note
This procedure varies depending on the version of the Windows operating system you’re using and your system preferences. Follow the instructions for your operating system provided by Microsoft Support.
Select the display’s name. The name of the display is shown either in the screen's upper right corner or on the left side.
Note
Instead of the display’s name, you may see an option such as “
SMART Mirror - <code>
” or “SMART Screen Share - <code>
”.If prompted on the display, allow the device to share.
To control the computer from the display, select Allow mouse, keyboard, touch, and pen input from this device on the computer.
Note
Controlling the computer from the display is best used for presenting content.
The SMART Mirror app is an alternate method of sharing your device’s screen, and it might be useful when the network doesn’t support Miracast. The SMART Mirror app also includes several tools that aid in presenting and collaborating.
Note
To use this app, the display must have SMART Mirror. Learn how to tell if your display has SMART Mirror.
To share your Windows device’s screen using the SMART Mirror app
Download the SMART Mirror app for your device.
From the display’s Home screen, tap Screen Share.
The home screen for sharing opens, showing you the information you’ll need to connect.
Open the SMART Mirror app on your device.
If you want to enable touchback, click Settings in the bottom left corner and select the Touchback control option.
Type the session ID in the SMART Mirror home screen.
The SMART Mirror home screen displays a 6- or 10-digit session ID. The number of digits indicates whether your device needs to be on the same network as the display:
6 digits: SMART Mirror is connected to the internet, allowing a connection across any network. When connecting using a 6-digit session ID, you can connect from anywhere. You do not need to be on the same network as the display.
10 digits: SMART Mirror allows local connections only. To connect using a 10-digit session ID, your device must be on the same network as the display.
Tip
You can change this setting on the display.
Enter your name.
Tap or click Connect.

Add a file such as a PDF, image, video, or link from your device.
Shared videos and links can be opened on the display. Others who've connected their devices to the display using SMART Mirror can open any shared files and download them to their devices.
After a session ends, all shared files are be removed.
Click Shared items.
Click Add items.
Choose the item type and select the file you want.
The file is added to the session's shared files.
Stop sharing
Stop sharing your device’s screen.
Open the SMART Mirror app on your device.
Click Stop presenting.
The SMART Screen Share app allows you to share your whole screen, a single application, or a media file. Using this app to share a device’s screen might be useful if the network doesn’t support native screen sharing connections, such as Miracast.

To use this app, the display must have SMART Screen Share. Learn how to tell if your display has SMART Screen Share.
To share your Windows computer’s screen on the display
On your computer, download and install the SMART Screen Share app from the SMART support site.
Open the SMART Screen Share app on your computer.
From the display’s Home screen, tap Screen Share.
Enter the display’s IP address.
OR
Click and scan the QR code on the display with your device.
Click Connect.
The message “SMART board has requested to enable touchback” appears on the computer. Click Accept to control the computer from the display.
Tap the thumbnail of the device’s screen.
The device’s screen expands to fill the display’s screen.
Select a display or program to share.
Click Start Sharing.
If permissions are enabled, someone at the display needs to allow the device to share before the device appears in the lobby or can share its screen.
Note
You can use touchback to interact with the computer’s shared screen from the SMART Board display. If touchback is enabled, you can’t write or draw on the screen using the display’s pens. To disable touchback in the SMART Screen Share app on your computer, click .
