Assigning sessions for independent student work

From your lesson files in the My Library tab, you have the option to Start new or Assign new, which either creates a new session for you to deliver live in class or for you to share it with students to work on independently. You can find delivered sessions in the Class Sessions tab, where you can resume live delivery.

With the session link, students can open the session at any time and work on it at their own pace. This can be useful when you’re sharing multiple lessons to different students for them to work on independently, or when you’re assigning work to complete outside of class time.

Notes

  • Students must sign in to open a session link.

  • Guests cannot access the assigned sessions.

  • Using the session link doesn’t connect students to a live delivery. The link just gives them access to the session to work on asynchronously. If you start delivering the session live while they have it open, they won’t be included unless they join the class using your class ID.

To share a session link

  1. From the My Library tab, find the lesson you want to share.

  2. Click Assign new.

    Note

On touch devices, you can also find Assign new in the More menu.

  3. Click OK and the Class Sessions tab opens. The newly assigned session appears at the top of the list.

  4. Click Share assignment. A dialog opens and displays the options for generating a link to the session.

  5. Click Copy to copy the link to the clipboard.

  6. Share the copied link with students. You can paste the link into an email or add it to an LMS assignment.

Any student who has the link can sign in and access the session. As students complete the work, their work will automatically save in the session. The session link will remain active until you replace the link with a new link or delete the session.

    Notes

    • When you replace a session link or delete the session, the link is disabled permanently.

    • Students working in the assignment asynchronously will not be affected by a live delivery of the same session.
