Network requirements, settings, and configuration
To use all features of the iQ experience, you need to connect the display to a network. The display can connect to a network using either Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. You can change basic network and internet settings from the Settings on the display, however, before you begin using iQ a network administrator must make sure the network is properly configured.
Network administrators can also install a certificate or add a browser proxy.
If you’re using a SMART AM60 appliance with iQ 4, SMART recommends that you connect the appliance to a network independently of the display using the appliance's Wi-Fi or RJ45 connections.
Network settings can be found by tapping Settings
Network & internet.
Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Internet | Choose either a Wi-Fi or Ethernet network to connect to. |
Airplane | Enable or disable airplane mode. |
Hotspot & tethering | Use hotspot and tethering to provide internet to other devices through the display’s network. You can enable the following options:
Note If you enable tethering and switch your input to a Windows 10 computer, you may have to manually install a driver. |
Data saver | Choose data saving options and data usage for apps. |
VPN | Configure VPN options required for connecting to your network |
Private DNS | Modify private DNS provider. |
To use all features of iQ, you need to configure the network. You’ll also need to configure the network so users can share their devices’ screens. See Configuring your organization’s network for screen sharing.
Network administrators need to configure the network so users can update the display’s firmware and system software automatically over the air and to allow apps to function properly.

Install network certificates to help ensure safety and security of your network. Certificates must be installed manually for each individual user account’s keystore, as Android complies with industry standard security practices to keep certificates secured. Once the certificate for the user account for your board is installed, it remains in effect and does not need to be installed again unless you perform a factory reset or you remove a previously configured Android lock screen option such as an Android PIN, swipe gesture, or password.
If you are having issues installing the certificate, try the following:
If the certificate is not installing correctly, try converting the certificate to .cer, .crt, or .pfx format.
Make sure you’re installing the correct certificate for connecting to a network or content filtering.
To learn how to deploy certificates using SMART Remote Management, see Managing settings.
To install network certificates
Copy the certificate to a USB drive.
Insert the USB drive into an available port on the display.
