Updating the BIOS on the Intel Compute Card

If you want PXE boot functionality for your Intel Compute Card, you might need to update its BIOS.

Caution 

Update the BIOS before reimaging the Intel Compute Card.

  1. Download pent_BIOS.zip from downloads.smarttech.com/software/am50/BIOS/pent_BIOS.zip.

  2. Browse to and unzip the .zip file you downloaded.

  3. Copy GK0053.bio and smart_pent_00453.bio to a FAT32-formatted USB drive.

  4. Connect the USB drive to the AM50 iQ appliance that has the Intel Compute Card you want to update.

    You can also connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the AM50 iQ appliance.

  5. Make sure the AM50 iQ appliance is turned on. See iQ appliance connector panel.

  6. Select GK0053.bio and press Enter to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  7. Press F7 to apply the custom BIOS file.

  8. Select smart_pent_0053.bio and press Enter to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  9. Press 9 to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  10. Press F2 to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

  11. Press F9 to load the optimized defaults.

  12. Press Y to confirm.

  13. Press F10 to save the changes and exit.

  14. Press Y to confirm the save.

  15. In Windows 10, shut down the Intel Compute Card. You’ll hear a click.

  1. Download m3_BIOS.zip from downloads.smarttech.com/software/am50/BIOS/m3_BIOS.zip.

  2. Browse to and unzip the .zip file you downloaded.

  3. Copy MKV0058.bio and smart_m3_0058.bio to a FAT32-formatted USB drive.

  4. Connect the USB drive to the AM50 iQ appliance that has the Intel Compute Card you want to update.

    You can also connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the AM50 iQ appliance.

  5. Make sure the AM50 iQ appliance is turned on. See iQ appliance connector panel.

  6. Select MKV0058.bio and press Enter to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  7. Press F7 to apply the custom BIOS file.

  8. Select smart_m3_0058.bio and press Enter to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  9. Press 9 to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  10. Press F2 to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

  11. Press F9 to load the optimized defaults.

  12. Press Y to confirm.

  13. Press F10 to save the changes and exit.

  14. Press Y to confirm the save.

  15. In Windows 10, shut down the Intel Compute Card. You’ll hear a click.

Caution

  1. Download i5_BIOS.zip from downloads.smarttech.com/software/am50/BIOS/i5_BIOS.zip.

  2. Browse to and unzip the .zip file you downloaded.

  3. Copy MKV0038.bio and smart_i5_0038.bio to a FAT32-formatted USB drive.

  4. Connect the USB drive to the AM50 iQ appliance that has the Intel Compute Card you want to update.

    You can also connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the AM50 iQ appliance.

  5. Make sure the AM50 iQ appliance is turned on. See iQ appliance connector panel.

  6. Select MKV0038.bio and press Enter to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  7. Press F7 to apply the custom BIOS file.

  8. Select smart_i5_0038.bio and press Enter to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  9. Press 9 to confirm the update.

    The system reboots.

  10. Press F2 to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

  11. Press F9 to load the optimized defaults.

  12. Press Y to confirm.

  13. Press F10 to save the changes and exit.

  14. Press Y to confirm the save.

  15. In Windows 10, shut down the Intel Compute Card. You’ll hear a click.
