Installing the software on Windows

Windows operating systems only

You can install SMART Learning Suite using the complete installer or the web-based installer. The following table explains the differences between the two installers.

You can start the complete installer by downloading the complete installer from the SMART website.

To download and start the complete installer from the website

  1. Go to https://education.smarttech.com/en/products/notebook/download#students.

  2. Select SMART Notebook 17.1 from Select your version.

  3. Select USB installer from Select install package.

  4. Enter your information into the following fields:

    1. First Name

    2. Last Name

    3. Job Title

    4. Email

    5. Country

  5. Select the service agreement check box.

  6. Select Windows under Change operating system.

  7. Click DOWNLOAD WINDOWS.

  8. Save the file to a temporary location.

  9. Browse to and double-click the file.
    The SMART Learning Suite Installation Wizard appears.

Notes 

  • If you install the software without a valid Product Key you’ll receive a 45-day trial.

  • A window for SMART Learning Suite maintenance program appears with the message:

    This version of SMART Notebook software requires a paid subscription to SMART Learning Suite. Continue the installation for a 45-day trial.

  • For further information see, the SMART Learning Suite webpage.

To install the software using the complete installer

  1. Start the complete installer as described in the previous procedure.
    The SMART Learning Suite 17.1 Installer window appears.

    Notes 

    • SMART recommends installing the Standard Installation/Upgrade, it will install SMART Notebook, SMART lab, SMART response 2, SMART Ink, and SMART Product Drivers.

    • The Standard Installation or Upgrade will also install Gallery Essentials and Lesson Activity Toolkit.

    • If you would like to customize the installation or upgrade of SMART software, select Customize.

  2. Select the terms of use link.
    The License Agreement window appears.

  3. Review the terms in software license agreement, and click Close.

  4. If you accept the terms, select I have read the accept the terms of use check box.

  5. Click Next.

  6. The SMART Notebook Activation window appears with selections (select the option that applies to your settings):

    • Start Trial/Using existing license

      Or

    • Enter Key

  7. Click Next.

  8. The Ready to Install the Program window appears, click Install.

  9. The installation is complete, click Finish.

You can download the web-based installer from the SMART website, and then double-click the downloaded file to begin the installation.

To download and start the web-based installer

  1. Go to https://education.smarttech.com/en/products/notebook/download#students.

  2. Enter your information into the following fields:

    1. First Name

    2. Last Name

    3. Job Title

    4. Email

    5. Country

  3. Select the service agreement check box.

  4. Select Windows under Change operating system.

  5. Click DOWNLOAD - WINDOWS.

  6. Save the file to a temporary location.

  7. Browse to and double-click the file.
    The SMART Learning Suite Installation Wizard appears.
