Using SMART Tools
You can draw attention to specific parts of a page using SMART Tools, such as the Screen Capture toolbar, Screen Shade, and Spotlight.
The Screen Capture toolbar enables you to take a screen capture of a rectangular area, a freehand area, a window or the entire screen.
To take a screen capture
From the desktop, tap Start, and then scroll to and select SMART Technologies > Screen Capture.
Tap one of the following buttons:
Button
Description
Capture a rectangular area.
Capture a window.
Capture an entire screen.
Capture a freehand area.
Select the area, window or screen you want to capture.
The Capture window opens. This window displays a thumbnail of the screen capture and a button for the last action you selected.
Tap the last action’s button.
OR
Tap Do something else and select a different action.
To close the Screen Capture toolbar
Tap Close
in the Screen Capture toolbar.
You can use a screen shade to cover a screen and reveal its content slowly:

To cover a screen
Tap Start, and then scroll to and select SMART Technologies > Screen Shade.
If your computer is connected to more than one display, select the display on which you want the screen shade to appear.
Tap one side of the screen shade and drag it to cover and uncover the display’s screen.
Tips
Tap the screen shade to change its color.
Double-click the screen shade to resume covering the entire screen.
To remove the screen shade
Tap Close
in the screen shade’s upper-right corner.
You can use the Spotlight tool during a presentation to draw attention to an area of a screen:

To start the Spotlight tool
Tap Start, and then scroll to and select SMART Technologies > Spotlight.
If your computer is connected to more than one display, select the display on which you want the spotlight to appear.
Optionally, tap the spotlight’s edge, and then drag outward or inward to make the spotlight larger or smaller.
Note
When the Spotlight tool is open, you can write on and interact with screen elements in the spotlight area only.
To close the Spotlight tool
Tap Close
in the spotlight’s upper-right corner.
