Playing game-based activities and assessments
There are many game-based activities your teachers might use for their lessons. Some you might play on your own and others you may play as part of a team. Click one of the activities shown below to learn how to play it.

Memory Match is a card- matching game where the object is to find the matching pair. Your teacher may have you play this game on your own or as part of a team.
To play Memory Match
Select two tiles to turn them over and see if they match. Matched tiles stay face up, but mismatches turn back over.
In two-player mode, the player avatars at the top of the screen indicate whose turn it is and record the number of matches each player has made.
The activity ends when all the matches have been made. You can Review the results or Reset the activity and play again.

In this matching game, the goal is to match related items.
To play Match ’Em Up!
Drag items from each category into the targets at the center of the screen to create a match. You can work individually or in teams on your own device, or your teacher might make it a whole class activity, and you and your classmates come to the board in turns to find a match.

In this activity, your teacher puts labels on a picture and asks you to identify and reveal the labels as you talk about them in class.
To play Label Reveal
Each label appears as a question mark icon
until it is tapped. Tapping the icon reveals the label.

The object of this activity is to sort the items into their categories.
To Play Super Sort
Drag items into the two categories to sort them.
Tip
If the activity contains an image, you can magnify it to view it full screen. Tap anywhere to exit full-screen mode.
After all items are correctly sorted, the activity is over.

In this racing game, you will work as a team to answer the questions correctly to move your avatar ahead.
To play Speed Up
Select a racer avatar
for your team and tap the check mark. You have 15 seconds to select a racer avatar. If you wait longer than 15 seconds, your avatar is selected automatically and the race begins.
When the race starts, your team can rapidly press the green Racer control arrow
for a turbo boost to increase speed.
At various points around the race track, your teacher asks your team a question.
Select the letter for the correct answer on your teams racer’s controls.
When the race is complete, the winning team’s racer avatar appears in the results window, and time results are shown in seconds for each racer avatar.

The object of this activity is to arrange the items on the page in the correct order.
To Play Rank Order
Drag and drop the items in the correct order from top to bottom. When the items are sorted correctly, all the answers jump up and then come back to rest in their places.

This is a quiz-based game where you’ll take turns with your classmates to answer the questions shown on the page.
To Play Game Show
Tap the spinning wheel to begin the game.
The wheel spins, and the pointer will land on:
a Power Up star that lets the current player remove an incorrect choice
x2 (times 2) which allows the current player to spin again for more points
a question mark, which opens a question window
Answer the questions when it’s your turn. When the questions are all answered correctly, the Results screen displays each team’s point total.

This is a flashcard activity to help you review and practice recall.
To Play Flip Out
Flip cards over to reveal what’s on the other side. For example, the face of the card may be labelled “jump,” while the back of a card may be labelled “verb.”

If there are more than 12 cards, you can drag a card to the discard pile you’ve flipped it over and discussed the answer.

The goal of this activity is to complete the sentences with the correct words.
To play Fill in the Blanks
Drag the words or numbers into the correct blanks.

Shout it Out! is a brainstorming activity that you can contribute to using text or images. The type of contribution you can make is set by your teacher.
To add text contributions to Shout it Out!
If the activity has categories, select one from drop-down.
Type your contribution in the text window that appears on your device when the teacher starts the activity.
Contributions can include up to 150 characters, including spaces. You can contribute the number of times specified by the teacher.
Tap Send response to send your contribution to the activity page.
Your contribution appears on the activity page.
To add image contributions
When the teacher starts the activity, the Activity response window opens on your devices.
If the activity has categories, select one from drop-down.
Tap Select an image.
Browse to and select an image, then tap Open.
Tap Send to send your contribution to the activity page.
The image contribution appears on the display at the front of the class.

Complete the assessment on your own device. After the assessment ends, you’ll have a chance to review your answers and see how you did.
To complete an assessment
After your teacher starts the Response assessment, you can begin selecting answers to questions. Use the arrow key to advance from one question to the next.
Note
If the teacher navigates away from the assessment to another lesson page, your progress saves automatically, and you will see the message, “Your teacher isn’t running the activity right now.” When your teacher resumes the assessment, you’ll go back to your place in the assessment.
After you have answered all the questions, select the arrow key once more to advance to the Submit Answers page. On this page, you can get information about the assessment.
Click Submit All Answers.
Click Submit.
You can review your answers when your teacher ends the assessment or when the time is up.
A confirmation page opens.
To review results
After the assessment ends, you will see feedback for each question.
Review your results by:
Scrolling through the questions to see how you did on each one.
Tapping
to display the percentage of questions you answered correctly at the bottom of your device’s screen.

The object of this game is to answer questions correctly to hatch your monster before the other team.
To Play Monster Quiz
Your teacher will divide you into teams and then start the quiz. When the quiz begins, the first question appears and you will need to select an answer. Your monster hatches a little bit more each time you select a correct answer.

In Team Quiz, you work with your teammates to answer questions on the screen correctly before the other team does.
To play Team Quiz
Your teacher will divide you into teams and then start the quiz. You and your teammates must correctly answer the question that appears. To select an answer, tap it. If it’s correct, you’ll move on to the next question. The first team to answer all questions correctly wins.

In Word Search, you’ll need to find all the hidden words in the puzzle.
To play Word Search
Tap START to begin the activity.
When you find a word, tap and drag across the word to select it.
Once all activities are finished, tap Review to look at the finished puzzle or tap Reset to play again.
