Sharing your Apple device’s screen to the display
For Apple devices, you have the option of using AirPlay or the SMART Screen Share app to share the device’s screen to the display.
Before you begin, make sure your device and its operating system support screen sharing.
The following Apple operating systems support screen sharing:
iOS 9 or later
OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or later
The following Apple devices support screen sharing:
iPhone 4S or later
iPad 2 or later
iPod touch (5th generation) or later
Important
Make sure the device is connected to the same network as the display.
Review the general tips and information for the best screen sharing experience.

Remember the following tips and general information when you use the Screen Share app:
Review how to use the lobby and understand how Screen Share permissions work.
Avoid sharing highly interactive screens, such as games or Google Maps.
When you tap the Home button to return to the Home screen, Screen Share stops.
Displays with older models of the iQ appliance don’t include Screen Share. Learn how to identify your iQ appliance model.
Touch interactions are not supported while using Screen Share on your iOS device.
When sharing videos:
Unmute your computer. Sometimes the audio can’t be heard from the display.
For best results, share videos with a resolution that doesn’t exceed 720p.
To avoid high latency (or lag) between the display and device, queue the video on the device before sharing the device’s screen.

The SMART Screen Share app allows you to share your display, a single application or a media file. Using this app to share a device’s screen might be useful if the network doesn’t support AirPlay, Google Cast, or Miracast.
To share your iOS device’s screen on the display using the SMART Screen Share app
On your iOS device, download and install the SMART Screen Share app from Apple’s App Store.
From the display’s Home screen, tap Screen Share
.
The display shows its IP address on the screen.
Open the SMART Screen Share app on your device.
Enter the display’s IP address on your device to connect.
OR
Tap
in the app and scan the QR code on the display’s screen.
Tap Connect.
Tap the black button to begin sharing your device’s screen.
Tap SMART Screen Share and then tap Start Broadcast.
If permissions are enabled, someone will need to allow the device to share at the board before the device appears in the lobby or can share its screen. Learn more about how permissions work and using the lobby.
Tip
Mute your device to prevent audio from both your device and the display.
To share your Mac computer’s screen on the display
On your computer, download and install the SMART Screen Share app from the SMART support site.
Open the app and install the audio driver for SMART Screen Share app when prompted.
From the display’s Home screen, tap Screen Share
.
Return to the SMART Screen Share app.
Enter the display’s IP address.
Click Connect.
If the display supports touch interactions, “SMART board has requested to enable touchback” appears on the computer. Click Accept to control the computer from the display.
Select a specific display or program to share.
Click Start Sharing.

Note
You can use touchback to interact with the computer’s shared screen from the SMART Board display. If touchback is enabled, you can’t write or draw on the screen using the display’s pens. To disable touchback in the SMART Screen Share app on your computer, click

To share your iOS device’s screen to the display
From the display’s Home screen, tap Screen Share
.
Note
Make a note of the display’s name. You’ll need that name when you share a device’s screen to the display.
On your iOS mobile device, open the Control Center.
Tap Screen Mirroring.
Select the display’s name. The device’s screen appears on the display.

To share your Mac computer desktop on the display
From the display’s Home screen, tap Screen Share
.
Note
Make a note of the display’s name. You’ll need that name when you share a device’s screen to the display.
On your Mac computer, click the AirPlay icon
in the menu bar.
Select the display’s name. The AirPlay icon turns blue
when your Mac computer is sharing with AirPlay.

Tip
If you want to switch from mirroring your desktop on the display to using the display as an extended desktop, click the AirPlay icon
, and then click Extend Desktop.
To control AirPlay streaming videos
- When sharing a video from the Internet with an app that supports AirPlay streaming, you can tap the SMART Board display’s screen to show controls to pause, fast forward, and rewind the video.

Disconnect the mobile device or computer to stop sharing its screen to the display.
To stop sharing the screen to the display
Tap the display.
The overlay appears.
In the top right corner of the screen, tap
.
When the message “Want to disconnect?” appears, tap Yes.
