Downloading, installing, and using

Using SMART Install Manager, you can customize the installation of SMART Notebook, SMART Meeting Pro, and SMART Product Drivers and Ink. You can perform a variety of tasks depending on the installation file type:

EXE

  • Open the EXE file and customize its installation settings.

  • OptionalSave work in progress to an XML file if you need to close SMART Install Manager before publishing the customizations. You can then restart SMART Install Manager later and open the XML file to resume your work.

  • Publish customizations to an XML file to deploy with the EXE file.

Windows

MSI

  • Open the MSI file and customize its installation settings.

  • OptionalSave work in progress to an XML file if you need to close SMART Install Manager before publishing the customizations. You can then restart SMART Install Manager later and open the XML file to resume your work.

  • Publish customizations to an MST file to deploy with the MSI file.

macOS

DMG

  • Open the DMG file and customize its installation settings.

  • OptionalSave work in progress to an XML file if you need to close SMART Install Manager before publishing the customizations. You can then restart SMART Install Manager later and open the XML file to resume your work.

  • Publish customizations to a new PKG file.

  1. Browse to SMART Notebook Administrator Download.

  2. Select Windows or Mac.

  3. Select SMART Install Manager.

  4. Click Download – Windows or Download – Mac.

    The browser downloads the installation file for the operating system you selected.

  5. Double-click the downloaded installation file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Windows only

To download the software’s EXE or MSI file and open it in SMART Install Manager

  1. Download the software’s EXE or MSI file from smarttech.com/downloads.

  2. Start SMART Install Manager.

  3. Drag the EXE or MSI file into the SMART Install Manager window.

  4. Use the pages and controls that appear in the SMART Install Manager window to customize the installation settings.

OptionalTo save work in progress to an XML file

  1. Select FileSave As.

  2. Click OK.

  3. Browse to an appropriate location for the XML file.

  4. Type a name for the XML file and click Save.

  5. Close SMART Install Manager.

OptionalTo restart and load customizations saved to an XML file

  1. Restart SMART Install Manager.

  2. Click Open and browse to the location of the XML file.

  3. Select the file and click Open.

To publish customizations

  1. Click Publish customizations.

  2. Browse to the location of the EXE or MSI file.

  3. Type a name for the XML or MST file and click Save.

macOS only

To download the software’s DMG file and open it in SMART Install Manager

  1. Download the software’s DMG file from smarttech.com/downloads.

  2. Start SMART Install Manager.

  3. Drag the DMG file into the SMART Install Manager window.

  4. Use the pages and controls that appear in the SMART Install Manager window to customize the installation settings.

OptionalTo save work in progress to an XML file

  1. Select FileSave As.

  2. Click OK.

  3. Browse to an appropriate location for the XML file.

  4. Type a name for the XML file and click Save.

  5. Close SMART Install Manager.

  2. Click Open and browse to the location of the XML file.

  3. Select the file and click Open.
