What’s new
SMART periodically releases updates to iQ system software. These updates include improvements to SMART Remote Management support for SMART Board interactive displays with iQ. For more information about these updates, see the iQ system software release notes.
Sample repository items | If your organization created its domain account after May 2023, repository windows (such as Policies and Device settings) include sample repository items you can use as starting points for creating your own repository items. These sample repository items have turquoise icons. |
---|---|
Improvements to the Devices view | As a result of backend changes to SMART Remote Management, the Devices view displays more real-time changes to devices. You can include new columns in the Devices view, including First Register and Ethernet Mac address. You can create a CSV file that contains information from all available device columns in SMART Remote Management or from only those columns shown in the Devices view. Previously, you could create only a CSV file that contained information from all available device columns. For more information, see Showing and hiding columns and Exporting device details to CSV files. |
Improvements to the device dashboard | The device dashboard shows the current state of a device (connected or disconnected) and a traceroute that you can use to track and diagnose network related events. For more information, see Viewing device details. |
Forgetting existing Wi‑Fi networks | You can make devices forget an existing Wi-Fi network through settings. For more information, see Managing settings. |
New advanced message types | In addition to creating advanced messages with text, images, and sounds, you can create advanced messages with YouTube videos or embedded web pages or HTML. For more information, see Sending advanced messages. |
Improvements to the Commands view | The Commands view includes a new search feature that allows you to find commands by description, device ID, command type, and trigger type. You can also export a command log to a CSV file and have it sent to your email address for a single command, multiple commands, or all commands. For more information, see Finding commands and Exporting command logs to CSV files. |
New user interface | When you first sign in to SMART Remote Management, a window appears. This window includes information about the new user interface and allows you to switch to it. The new use interface is faster, more secure, and provides new features and capabilities. |
---|---|
Dark theme | By default, the SMART Remote Management user interface uses a light theme. You can change it to a dark theme. For more information, see Changing the user interface theme. |
Single sign-on (SSO) | You can allow users to sign in to SMART Remote Management using their Google or Microsoft accounts rather than creating separate accounts with passwords for users in SMART Remote Management. For more information, see Managing users. |
Remote execution scripts | In addition to sending remote execution commands to SMART Board interactive displays and Android and Windows devices, you can send remote execution scripts to these devices. This is useful when you need to complete complex procedures that can’t be executed through a single command line. For more information, see Sending remote execution commands and scripts to SMART Board interactive displays and Android and Windows devices. |
Kiosk policies | A kiosk is a device with limited user control, such as information terminals in shopping malls and other public places. You can create policies in SMART Remote Management and deploy them to devices to make those devices behave like kiosks. For more information, see Deploying kiosk policies. |
Creating an installation package using a Google Play app | The process for creating an installation package has been improved. Now, in addition to specifying the app’s Google Play store URL, you can specify the country and type of device on which you want to install the app. For more information, see Creating installation packages. |
---|
Two-step verification and user account removal | You can enable two-step verification on your SMART Remote Management account to make the account more secure. You can also remove an unneeded user account from the User Profile window. For more information, see Managing your user account. |
---|---|
Tag for new devices | When you enroll a new device, SMART Remote Management automatically assigns the “new” tag to the device (and the device is included in the New Devices group as a result). This allows you and other users to quickly identify recently enrolled devices and ensure that you complete tasks such as installing apps and managing settings on those devices. For more information, see Enrolling SMART Board interactive displays and Enrolling other devices. |
Groups | Groups are a way of organizing devices enrolled in SMART Remote Management. A group consists of all devices assigned the group’s tags: By default, all enrolled devices are included in the All group, and new devices you enroll are included in the New Devices group. For more information, see Using groups. |
Persistent commands | You can make commands you run on groups persistent. If you assign a new device to a group in the future (by adding one of the group’s tags to the device), persistent commands for that group automatically run on the device. For more information, see Making group commands persistent. |
Running commands across device types | You can run commands across multiple device types if those device types support the commands. For example, you could send a text message to all the SMART Board interactive displays with iQ and all the Android and iOS devices in your organization. |
Customizable permissions | You can grant the following permissions to individual user accounts:
For more information, see Managing users. |
Policy terminology change | The terms “allow list” and “block list” replace the terms “white list” and “black list” in the user interface. For more information, see Deploying policies. |
Domain account deletion | The account admin can delete the domain account from the Account Settings window. Important
For more information, see Managing domain account settings. |
