The projector doesn’t turn on.

  • If the power light is amber, the projector is in Standby mode. If the projector has a power button, press it.

  • If the projector isn’t responding to the remote control, the remote control’s batteries may need to be replaced.

  • Make sure the power cable is firmly seated in the power outlet as well as in the projector.

  • Make sure the power outlet works by plugging in another device.

You’re experiencing other issues with power or the previous solutions don’t resolve the issue.

You’re experiencing general issues with video.

  • Try selecting a different input. The input may be the source causing the issue.

  • Restart the projector and the computer.

  • Check the input resolution from the computer, and set the resolution to 1024 × 768 or 1280 × 800. Refer to the documentation for the set of supported resolutions for your specific product.

There is no image but the indicator light is green.

  • Try the general troubleshooting steps first.

  • If you are using an extended desktop with a dark background, try moving a window over to the projected screen.

  • Check the lens and area around it or the mirror (if applicable) for any obstructions.

The image is out of focus.

  • Try adjusting the focus knob or slider on the projector. It should move freely with little effort.

  • Make sure the lens and mirror (if applicable) aren’t obstructed or dirty. Use only a lens cloth and the proper solution (available from photography stores) to clean the lens.

The image appears dim.

  • Try the general troubleshooting steps first.

  • With the projector remote, make sure the brightness and contrast settings have not been turned down in the on-screen menu settings.

  • See Projector displays a dim image for additional solutions.

There are stuck or dead pixels.

  • Try the general troubleshooting steps first.

  • Restart the projector and check if the dead pixels go away.

  • Remove the video input and display only the SMART splash screen. If the issue is still there, the fault lies within the projector. Otherwise, it’s likely a cabling issue, but another source should also be tried.

There is noise, rolling lines, or other interference in the image.

The image is shifted to one side.

  • Try the general troubleshooting steps first.

  • Use the remote to change the projector input source, cycling back to the input. Sometimes the analog video just needs to resynchronize with the projector.

  • See Your projector’s image flickers or shifts for additional solutions.

The source is not recognized.

You’re experiencing general issues with audio.

  • Restart the source device and the projector.

  • A volume slider should appear on the screen when you use the remote control to change the volume. If it doesn’t appear, change the remote control batteries.

  • Use the remote control to access the projector menu and scroll to the audio tab. Make sure the speaker is set to ON and volume is turned up.

  • If you’re using external speakers, make sure they’re receiving power and turned on.

The audio is noisy or buzzing.

  • Try the general troubleshooting steps first.

  • Connect the 3.5 mm stereo plug to connect to another audio source, ideally a mobile device that has no connection to the building electrical system. The 3.5 mm stereo plug is a small, typically green or black plug into your computer.

The volume is low.

  • Try the general troubleshooting steps first.

  • There is a volume setting on the computer and, in some cases, the application itself. Set the computer or application volume to approximately 80%. This will also help with overall acoustic performance.

  • Remove the plastic strip from the remote control’s battery compartment.

  • Point the remote control towards the projector’s sensor.

  • Use another battery to confirm if the issue is with the battery.

  • Use the remote control from another SMART projector to confirm if the issue is with the remote control.

  • Follow the projector cleaning instructions.

  • Make sure there is sufficient space around the projector for airflow.

  • If possible, remove the projector form the current setup and see if the issue occurs elsewhere.

  • If the Power light remains off and the Diagnostics light remains flashing red after you try the above solutions, the projector might need to be repaired.

Solid amber

Off

The projector is in Standby mode.

  • If the projector doesn’t turn on:

    • Try turning on the projector with a different remote control to determine if the problem is with the remote control.

    • For projector systems that include an ECP, disconnect the ECP and try turning on the projector with the remote control to determine if the issue is with the ECP or harness.

  • If the projector still doesn’t turn on, it might need to be repaired.

Solid amber

Flashing red

There is a lamp error.

  • Make sure the lamp door is properly closed.

  • Replace the lamp with a known working one.

  • Follow the projector cleaning instructions.

  • If the Power light remains sold amber and the Diagnostics light remains flashing red after you try the above solutions, the projector might need to be repaired.

Flashing amber

Off

The projector is shutting down.

  • If the shutdown cycle keeps repeating:

    • Follow the projector cleaning instructions.

    • Make sure there is sufficient space around the projector for airflow.

  • If the shutdown cycle keep repeating, the projector might need to be repaired.

Flashing amber

Flashing red

There is a processing error.

  • Faulty grounding in a power line can cause this error to show erroneously. Try using the projector in different location.

  • Disconnect all cables except the power cable to rule out any grounding issues.

  • If the Power light remains flashing amber and the Diagnostics light remains flashing red after you try the above solutions, the projector might need to be repaired.

The projector is running as expected.

The projector is preparing to turn on.

  • If the projector takes longer than expected to turn on:

    • Make sure the lamp door is properly closed.

    • Turn off the projector and restart it after 30 seconds.

    • Replace the lamp with a known working one.

  • If the projector still takes longer than expected to turn on, it might need to be repaired.
