The Lumio Beta channel
The Lumio Beta channel is for users who are comfortable participating in an evolving environment. The beta channel offers access to new features that are in development. Your participation helps us gather information about feature stability, performance, and workflow integration.
After opting into the beta channel, you’ll receive emails with the latest updates when beta features are added or removed.
Important
Beta features are identified with the Beta badge.
The user interface and feature behavior might change significantly as features develop.
You might encounter bugs or other unexpected behavior in beta features.
Features previewed in the beta channel might not appear in the released channel.
Beta features might be added or removed at any time.
If you opt out of the Lumio Beta channel or a beta feature is removed, your saved files will work correctly most of the time.
These are the features currently available in the Lumio Beta channel.
Bing image search filters
When searching for an image, users can select between All Filters or specific options such as Clipart, Line, and Photo.
Lumio AI Assist
Use Lumio AI assist to quickly generate an assessment tailored to your curriculum. Generated questions are fully editable.

To create questions with Lumio AI Assist
Click New to start creating a new lesson file.
OR
Add the activity to an existing lesson by opening the lesson in Editing mode. Browse to the page that you want the activity to follow and click Add .
Select Game Based Activities.
The Game Based Activity Templates window opens.
Select the activity you want to add.
The activity’s editor opens.
From the drop-down menus in the Lumio AI Assist tab, select the question type, grade level, and number of questions.
Under Topic / prompt, type the topic or learning objective in the text box.
Tip
Be as specific and add prompts to refine the results.
Click Generate to create a set of questions.
Review the questions for content and accuracy. You can add, delete, and edit questions as needed.
Return to the Lumio AI Assist tab and click Generate to continue adding questions with Lumio AI Assist.
OR
Add questions manually from the Add/edit tab.
Tip
Click the icon to delete all questions at once.
When you’re done adding questions, click Next.
Finalize any additional settings.
Click Finish to create your activity.
The activity loads and appears on a new lesson page.
To join the beta channel
Open the User menu and select Join Lumio Beta.
A dialog appears. Click the switch to turn the option on.
Click Confirm.
Click OK to get early access to new features. You’ll find the new features in the User menu.
To leave the beta channel
Open the User menu and select Leave Lumio Beta.
A dialog appears. Click the switch to turn the option off.
Click Confirm.
Click OK. You can rejoin the beta channel at any time.
SMART appreciates your willingness to use Lumio Beta releases, and we value all types of feedback, including feature requests and reports of issues.
You can provide direct feedback on each beta feature.
To send feedback
After using a beta feature in Lumio, you’ll be prompted to provide a rating.
After selecting a rating, you can add details of your experience.
OR
Open the Help menu and click Beta feedback.
Select the feature you want to give feedback for from the drop-down menu.
Click Give feedback.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
From the Help menu, you can also report an issue or request a feature.
The Lumio Beta channel is a rapidly changing environment.
Beta features used within the Lumio Library or while editing a file don’t affect students.
In some cases where a beta feature affects content on the whiteboard page, a student might receive this message:
Beta features used within the Lumio Library or while editing a file don’t affect teachers who haven’t joined the Lumio Beta.
In some cases where a beta feature affects content on the whiteboard page, a teacher might receive this message:
No, all your saved files will function as they always have.
Files created in the Lumio Beta will remain in your library even after you have opt to leave the beta channel.
