About the SMART Room System with Skype version 2

Microsoft Skype Room System version 1 software reached end of support on October 9, 2018. Microsoft and SMART Technologies are working on an upgrade to Microsoft Teams Room for your existing SMART Room System for Skype for Business.
SMART Room System with Skype for Business relies on Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.0 and 1.1 in Microsoft Office 365. TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 reached end of support on October 31, 2018. Microsoft will continue to support LRS devices connecting to Office 365 over TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1, but these protocols will be blocked in the future (in six months or longer). Microsoft Teams Rooms upgrade
Microsoft is offering an upgrade to Microsoft Teams Rooms for existing customers of SMART Room System with Skype for Business. This upgrade improves system performance, usability, and security for your SMART Room System. The upgrade also enhances system stability, improves the user interface and is compatible with Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams. Features include:

Microsoft Teams Rooms is not compatible with some features of SMART Room System with Skype. The following features will stop working if you upgrade to Microsoft Teams Rooms:

SMART Room System upgrade
SMART and Microsoft are working together to make an upgrade available for SMART Room System customers who are covered under an active SMART Service Plan or warranty. This upgrade, provided by SMART, works with existing SMART Room System hardware and includes:
- Upgrade from SMART Room System version 1 software to Microsoft Teams Room software
- Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 IoT operating system software
- Hardware dongle to support the HDMI video capture cable for in-room display devices
Customers who have an expired warranty or SMART Service Plan can contact their reseller to purchase or renew their SMART Room Systems service coverage. If you don’t have SMART service plan or warranty and do not want to renew, you will not receive the upgrade package to Microsoft Teams Rooms.
The release date for the Microsoft Team Rooms upgrade will be posted on this page once the date is confirmed with Microsoft.
SMART Room Systems with Skype for Business will continue to work after October 31, 2018. If your SMART Room System stops working due to TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1. or has been blocked by your Active Directory federation provider, you can use your .onmicrosoft email address to continue connecting to Office 365.
