Microsoft Skype Room System version 1 software has reached end of support on October 9, 2018. Microsoft and SMART technologies are working on Skype Room System version 2 software for your existing SMART Lync Room Systems (LRS).
SMART room systems use SRS version 1 that relies on Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.0 and 1.1 in Microsoft Office 365. TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 are approaching end of support on October 31, 2018. Microsoft will continue to support LRS devices connecting to Office 365 over TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1, but these protocols will be blocked in the future (in six months or longer). See Preparing for the mandatory use of TLS 1.2 in Office 365 for details.
Microsoft is offering SRS version 2 upgrade to existing customers of SMART Room System with Skype for business. This upgrade improves system performance, usability, and security for your SMART Room System. The upgrade also enhances system stability, improves the user interface and is compatible with Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams. Features include:
Microsoft Skype for Business
Microsoft Teams
Software updates
Troubleshooting support from Microsoft
Microsoft SRS version 2 is not compatible with some features of SMART Room System with Skype. These features will stop working if you upgrade to SRS version 2:
Display touch and guest computer touch
Whiteboard
Note
Touch and whiteboard support will be added in 2019. Visit Microsoft’s support pages for more information.
SMART and Microsoft are working together to make an upgrade available to SMART Room Systems customers who are covered under an active SMART Service Plan or warranty. Customers who have an expired warranty or SMART Service Plan can contact their reseller to purchase or renew their SMART Room Systems service coverage. If you don’t have SMART service plan or warranty and do not want to renew, your existing LRS devices will not be updated to SRS version 2. You will need to upgrade your device to certified room devices here. The details of the SMART room system upgrade will be released shortly and posted on this page.
