Upgrading your room system software to Microsoft Teams Rooms 4.9.12

Microsoft Teams Rooms 4.9.12 is the final version supported by SMART Room System hardware. Although you can install later versions of Microsoft Teams Rooms on your room system, SMART does not support these versions and can’t verify that they will work on SMART Room System hardware.

Important 

If you have not done so already, upgrade your room system to Microsoft Teams Rooms 4.5.35 as described in Upgrading your room system software to Microsoft Teams Rooms 4.5.35 before upgrading to Microsoft Teams Rooms 4.9.12.

To upgrade to version 4.9.12

  1. Connect a USB keyboard and mouse to one of the USB 2.0 connectors on the computing appliance.

  2. Press the WINDOWS key on the keyboard five times.

  3. Sign in to the Admin account.

  4. Download the upgrade script from the SMART website and save it to a temporary location on the computing appliance.

  5. Right-click the upgrade script, select Properties, select Unblock, and click OK.

  6. Open a command prompt window as an administrator and then run the following command:

    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted "[Path]\MTR-Update-4.9.12.0.ps1"

    Where Path is the path to the folder where you downloaded the upgrade script in step 4.

  7. Restart the computing appliance.

  8. Confirm the Microsoft Teams Rooms and Windows versions:

    1. Tap More.

    2. Tap Settings.

    3. Sign in to the Admin account.

    4. Tap About.

    5. Confirm that the Microsoft Teams Rooms app version is 4.9.12.0.

    6. Tap Windows Settings

    7. Sign in to the Admin account and open Windows Settings.

    8. Tap System.

    9. Tap About.

    10. Confirm the Windows 10 version is 1903 or 1909.

  9. Upgrade the computing appliance to Windows 10 20H2:

    • If the room system is on a managed domain, use SCCM and WSUS to upgrade the computing appliance or a managed group policy.

    • Otherwise, sign in to the Admin account following steps 2 and 3 above and use Windows Update to upgrade the computing appliance manually.

    Note 

    After the computing appliance is upgraded to Windows 10 20H2, it should include the following Windows updates:

    • Update KB4601050

    • Update KB4562830

    • Security update KB4580325

    • Security update KB5006670

    • Security update KB5005699

  10. Disconnect the USB keyboard and mouse from the computing appliance.
