To resolve an intermittent issue with system control, the Extended Control Panel (ECP) used with SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboards and the SMART UX80 projector requires firmware version 2.0 or above. This firmware version addresses unresponsive control issues reported by some customers.

  1. Ensure that your computer has a USB data connection to the primary USB port (marked with a desktop computer icon) on the back of the ECP.

  2. Download the firmware on this page.

  3. Move the BIN file (0057-2.0.1.0-app.bin) to the appropriate folder location on your computer:

    • Education software on 64-bit Windows operating systems

    • Education software on 32-bit Windows operating systems

    • Enterprise software on 32-bit Windows operating systems

      Applications > SMART Technologies > Firmware > SP2

  4. Browse to the SMART Firmware Updater application:

    • Education software on 64-bit Windows operating systems

    • Education software on 32-bit Windows operating systems

      Copy
      C:\Program Files\SMART Technologies\Education Software\ SMARTFirmwareUpdater.exe

    Note 

    Your SMART Board interactive whiteboard does not respond to touch while the firmware updater is running. You need a mouse device to complete the installation.

  5. Run SMART Firmware Updater.

    The SMART firmware updater displays the model and the current version for the SC14 control panel. If the Current Version is below 2.0, you need to update your SMART ECP firmware.

  6. Select the SC14 Control Panel, click Next and then follow the onscreen instructions.

  7. Close the updater after the firmware update is complete.
