Troubleshooting your SMART Board 600 or D600

Touch or pen interaction appears on the wrong display or interactive whiteboard.

  • Orient the display by pressing the mouse and keyboard pen tray buttons or, on the computer, by selecting the Orient option form the SMART Board icon in the notification area in the bottom right corner of the screen. Press the SPACE bar to make the orient screen appear on the display you want to use and proceed with orientation.

  • If the issue isn’t resolved after you’ve oriented the display, disable single finger panning in Tablet PC settings:

    1. Open the Windows Control Panel

    2. Browse to Hardware and Sound > Pen and Touch.

    3. Open the Panning tab, and clear Turn on Single Finger Panning.

The onscreen keyboard appears by itself, as if someone had pressed the onscreen keyboard button on the pen tray.

The display reacts to touch as if the touch has been a right click.

  • Make sure no direct or foreign objects have made the button stick in the pressed position. Clean the area surrounding the affected buttons.

  • Reset the controller by pressing the blue button on the side. The controller is located on the bottom right hand side of the interactive whiteboard, behind the status light.

  • Check for firmware updates by starting the SMART Firmware Updater:

    • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers\SMARTFirmwareUpdater.exe

    • Mac: /Applications/SMART Technologies/SMART Tools/Firmware Updater.app

  • If the SMART Firmware Updater shows that the firmware is up to date, flash the firmware by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+F on the screen that shows your firmware is up to date.

You’re experiencing other issues with the pen tray, or the previous solutions don’t resolve the issue.

The interactive whiteboard’s indicator light isn’t lit.

  • Connect the cable to a different USB receptacle on the computer.

  • Reset the controller by pressing the blue button on the side. The controller is located on the bottom right hand side of the interactive whiteboard, behind the status light.

  • Use a single USB cable no longer than 16' (5 m) to connect the comoputer and the interactive whiteboard. (This will eliminate any issues that might have been caused by peripherals or extenders.)

  • Replace the USB cable with a known working cable.

The interactive whiteboard’s indicator light is flashing green.

  • Check for the SMART Board icon in the notification area (Windows operating systems) or Dock (Mac computers). If the icon is missing, start SMART System Menu or install SMART Product Drivers.

  • In SMART Settings, select About Software and Product Support > Tools > Diagnostics. Select Service > Stop and then Service > Start.

The interactive whiteboard’s indicator light is solid or flashing red.

  • Make sure the USB cable between the computer and the interactive whiteboard is securely connected.

  • Connect the cable to a different USB receptacle on the computer.

  • Install SMART Product Drivers or update to the latest version.
