Highlights |
---|
System software | Setup It’s now possible to disable SMART Account sign in to the display (Settings > Password & accounts > SMART ID sign in). This option is disabled by default on SMART displays for Enterprise. You can now customize the external inputs under Settings> SMART> Inputs> Custom titles. These custom names will apply for all users on this board.
Home screen SMART Tools Teachers can now save their preferences and customizations for SMART Tools (Spinner, Timer, Clock, Stopwatch, and Dice). When teachers are signed in to their SMART Accounts, their customizations are available on any display they use. When no one has signed in to a SMART Account on the display, the engagement tools’ settings reset to the defaults.
Files library Touch SMART Remote Management (SRM) SMART Remote Management now installs apps for all users, regardless of whether they are signed into the display. Those apps are also available to users added to the display after the app was deployed. SMART Remote Management can now set MAC Randomization modes for network connections.

Embedded apps | SMART Whiteboard It’s now easier to add text, images, and other content to the iQ Whiteboard: NOTE: The other Android application must support use of the clipboard or drag and drop, or dragging or copying content from those apps will not work. Google Chrome does support these features.
Clear all and text editor tools are now available in the iQ Whiteboard toolbar. Lessons and whiteboards include a new Insert shapes tool. The join code, for collaborative sessions, is now available in a floating window over the iQ Whiteboard canvas. This makes it easier for students and participants to connect. To enable this feature, go to the iQ Whiteboard settings (in the app) and enable the Show join code on canvas option. An integrated back button is now available in collaborative activities, such as shared workspaces. New improved content for Australia (including sports). Local content provides engaging region- or culture-specific templates and manipulatives that students can identify with.
System Android Security Update: ASB 2024-11-01. A new setting is available to control the compatibility behavior for displays and appliances: Settings > Display > Require HDMI version. The display can provide pen and touch interactions with connected Android devices, such as Microsoft Teams Systems. The message that appears when an input is disconnected or not available has been updated to be more intuitive and helpful.

Resolved issues |
---|
System software | Touch Audio System SMART Remote Management (SRM) Pushing a policy from SRM no longer prevents the display from accepting new SMART Account user sign ins. If your display has this restriction applied from a policy pushed on an earlier version, use the Settings > Allow Add User push option to remove that restriction. The restriction will not be reapplied after the update. The name the SMART Board display has at the time of its enrollment now transfers to SRM. and Wi-Fi MAC addresses now appear in SRM. The SMART Remote Management command to remove Google accounts now removes personal Google accounts from the Public user (Google accounts in SMART Account users are not removed). SMART Remote Management wallpaper commands are applied to the Public user only, even if a SMART Account user is signed into the display when the command is sent.

Embedded apps | SMART Whiteboard Students now see changes the teacher makes to equation annotations on the whiteboard. Students can now see equation annotations when a teacher opens and starts a collaborative whiteboard session. Whiteboard toolbars are now displayed correctly when the toolbar is positioned at the edges of the screen.

Known issues |
---|
System software | SMART Account sign-in Touch On SMART Board MX (V5) and RX displays with out of date touch firmware, a touch firmware update and restart might occur after the display first restarts after updating to iQ 4.3. This process can take up to 2 minutes, and touch isn’t available during the update.
Audio Audio recording from the mic array within Google Chrome might be intermittent and “choppy.” The display’s internal speakers are not muted when connected to an ARC audio output device. A workaround is to adjust and lower the display’s speaker volume.
System If the Android lock screen is set for the default user, Clean up won’t be able to remove all Google accounts if the Settings > Security > Clean up > Clean up Google Accounts option is enabled. We recommend using iQ’s lock screen instead of the Android lock screen. The Android screen recorder will stop recording when the user enables Screen Shade or Freeze Frame from within SMART Tools on the Navigation Bar. HDMI-out might output only a black screen if the HDMI output resolution in Settings > Display > External Displays is set to SD (720x480) or VGA (640x480). Using a higher resolution resolves the issue. The SMART Board tab on the Device Info page is missing some information, and the titles are cut off on the page. On SMART Board MX (V5) and RX displays, switching directly to either the VGA or OPS inputs directly from an HDMI or USB-C input might take up to 20 seconds before an image appears on the screen. A No signal message might appear as the display switches video inputs. Google Workspace users will not be able to use the Google Drive integration within the SMART Files Library app if the Workspace admin has disabled access to Google Drive. Users will be able to sign in to their Google account from the Files Library, but the Files Library will not open their Google Drive. Users should ask the Google Workspace admin to enable access to Google Drive for their account.
Power management Power management settings such as screen timeout are set for each user individually, and will default to 60 min for each new user regardless of the setting on the default/public user. Scheduled wake time on the panel may follow GMT and not the local time zone, resulting in a panel waking unexpectedly.
SMART Remote Management (SRM) SMART Remote Management might not report Wi-Fi SSIDs, even if the connection is still active on the display. SMART Remote Management might not be able to install application packages from the Play Store if the package provided by Google is a split APK. After stopping a scheduled command on SMART Remote Management, the display might still execute the command when additional users sign in. An update will be coming soon to resolve this issue. The Device Name syncs only to the SRM console during the initial enrollment, and changes on the SRM console do not sync to the device. The “Forget Wi-Fi” command does not work, and previously connected networks are remembered on the display. Some commands, including messages and advanced messages, might execute only after the user goes back to the Home screen. Also, the commands might not execute on a signed-in user the first time they sign in, but will work as expected on subsequent sign-ins.
Some commands, including messages and advanced messages, might execute only after the user goes back to the Home screen. Additionally, they may not execute on a signed-in user the very first time they sign in, but will work as expected on subsequent sign-ins.

Embedded apps | Whiteboard The Whiteboard app never finishes loading and no “No network” message appears if the network is connected but not working or the first time creating a Lumio file after waking from sleep. The Japanese IME OSKeyboard creates English characters. In split screen, the canvas zooms or pans again after the user has zoomed or panned. Adding images to a Lumio page too quickly can cause images to fail to load. If a student adds an equation to a Whole-class Whiteboard, the Whiteboard might stop responding if the teacher is moving between files at the display. The Whiteboard app won’t start when the display wakes after trying to connect to the internet while there’s no connectivity. Opening a file from a USB drive and then removing the drive might cause the file to save as an empty, 0-byte file. After a large number of ink strokes and undo/redo actions, the RX pen might fail to change color. On SMART Board MX (V5) and RX series displays, computers connected to VGA will not be able to use USB peripherals (such as USB drives) connected to the display. Connect computers using HDMI or USB-C to access USB peripherals on the computer. A student might be taken to a non-collaborative version of the page when Lesson Pacing is set to student The whiteboard does not render iQ 3 widgets or measurement tools from SMART Notebook software. The On-screen keyboard does not include predictive text options. Student annotations using the equation editor in the Whole-class Whiteboard are not visible in iQ Whiteboard. Ellipsis buttons appear disabled, but remain usable, although they can create issues with LAB activities. Custom LAB activity images are broken or missing after importing, saving, or exporting. Whiteboard sometimes closes or loads forever without 'no network' toast when the network is connected but not working, or the first time creating a Lumio file after the display wakes. Whiteboard sometimes closes a few seconds after a student adds an equation After opening a whiteboard file that contains an equation in Lumio, the (start session) spinner can freeze, and the canvas wil be blocked. Whiteboard closes when attempting to use pen options while accessibility (TalkBack) is on. Images in a Lumio file might be invisible or missing if a user leaves the file or converts a page before the Lumio file is uploaded All but one ink fragments are displaced far or unreachable after a Lumio student erases through teacher's ink
