System software | Users can now connect an external audio source, such as an external microphone system, via line in and it will play through the display speakers. The setting is available under Settings > Sound input > Use Audio In (stereo 3.5mm) with a microphone. Users can now select whether to prefer USB audio devices or the built-in microphone (default) for audio capture. For example, if they have a conferencing web camera. This setting is available under Settings > Sound > Sound input > Prefer USB devices for sound input.

Known issues |
System software | Signed-in SMART Account users Touch RX series displays: external displays shown on PIP are view only and do not yet support touch features. RX series displays: pen properties are not reset to default after the pen is in the pen tray for 30 seconds. This will be corrected to match the behavior of previous 6000S (V3) displays. MX (V5) series displays: While showing an external input, touch events on the navigation bar, SMART Tools menus, and the tools themselves (such as the spinner, stopwatch, and so on) pass through and are received by the area behind the menu or tool.
Clean up and Lock Screen The Clean up button does not yet remove accounts for the owner user (Settings > Passwords & accounts). The intent is for this to be a configurable option. SMART Lock Screen isn’t yet available. The Android lock screen is available if needed.
Audio The microphone array is not accessible to the OPS if it is in use by an Android app, as the mic array cannot be used by more than one input at a time. Make sure an app (such as a video conferencing app) isn’t actively using the mic array before switching to the OPS input. The internal speaker is not muted when a Bluetooth audio output device is connected. When recording the screen, audio from the display is not recorded, but audio from the microphone is recorded.
NFC To use the display’s NFC reader with an external input, the NFC option must be disabled within Android in Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > NFC. This disables the ability to sign in to SMART Accounts with a SMART ID card. To sign in to a SMART Account with a SMART ID card, enable the NFC within Android. However, this will make the NFC reader unavailable with external inputs.
Room control Any input to the RS-232 room control port automatically wakes the display from Standby to a power state that save less energy. This is required and expected as the display must wake from Standby to process RS-232 room control commands. Room control responses may have additional <CR> and <LF> new line control characters. The client issuing RS-232 room control commands must correctly handle these new line characters.
Peripherals compatibility When connected to HDMI1, some Chrome OS devices that implement non-standards compliant HDMI behavior (such as the Google Chromebox) will reconnect to the display only at 720p after the display turns on or wakes from Standby, even if the Chrome OS device’s resolution was initially higher than 720p. Some workarounds are: Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable. Reselect the correct resolution on the Chrome OS device.
When connecting some USB-C peripherals (such as the Google Chromebox) to USB-C1, the video is not restored when the display turns on or wakes from Standby. Disconnect and reconnect the USB-C cable to restore the video signal. While connected to a device using an HDMI-CEC connection, the display might switch to the incorrect input after waking from Standby. If there is no touch on a connected macOS computer after the computer wakes up from sleep, reconnecting the USB-B touch cable will typically restore touch functionality When connecting the display to a macOS computer using the USB-B touch cable, macOS may prompt with an “Allow accessories to connect” dialog box. Always click on Allow to enable touch on the macOS computer. Some webcams, such as the Logitech BRIO 4K webcam, work only when connected to the display’s Service Port 1 USB port. HDMI Out is not working correctly for signed in users and shows only the wallpaper. The remote control does not work for navigating all items in the navigation bar. The Screen Share button does not launch SMART Mirror.

Embedded apps | Apps Some apps, such as Teams and Zoom, can cause the screen to rotate. To prevent this, go to Settings > Display and enable the Lock display rotation option. Some popular apps do not install from Google Play: Seesaw, Nearpod, Photomath. Because this is most often an issue with the third-party app, SMART is unable to assist. Please contact the app developer. Some streaming services (for example, Netflix and Amazon Prime) will only offer HD video. Some apps don’t support devices that do not include a built-in camera (In particular, Relution; visit the Relution support site for a workaround: Enroll devices without camera). By default, the three customizable apps on the navigation bar are Whiteboard, Youtube, and Chrome, or Whiteboard, SMART Mirror, and Chrome. You can drag apps into this section of the navigation to customize it to your preferences.
SMART Remote Management (SRM) The display’s Wi-Fi connection can’t be changed to a TLS/PEAP/WPA2/3 protected network with SRM. A variety of certificate types, including CA, VPN, Apps, and Wi-Fi, can’t be sent by SRM. Some commands, including messages and advanced messages, might execute only after the user goes back to the Home screen. Most remote exec commands are not yet supported. Using SRM to disable Google Play Store (or any other app) affects only the current user. Disabling an app for the default user does not disable the app for a SMART Account user. SRM is unable to remove Google accounts. The device name might not show in SRM. Devices can be identified by their serial number, labeled “Device ID” in SRM. The lockdown settings policy is successfully applied only if no one is signed in to a SMART Account on the display. Sign out of any SMART Accounts before deploying this policy.
Whiteboard Page backgrounds might disappear when the user returns to the Home screen, opens other apps, returns to the whiteboard, and opens the page sorter. A number of issues can occur while displaying a Lumio lesson in the iQ Whiteboard: A student might be taken to a non-collaborative version of the page. Student ink might not sync with the display when ink is selected and moved or rotated. The teacher cannot select student ink. Videos added at the display are not visible when accessing the lesson later.
Undo and Redo buttons work inconsistently on collaborative pages. The whiteboard does not render iQ 3 widgets or measurement tools from SMART Notebook software. The On-screen keyboard does not include predictive text options. Videos appear full screen and must be dragged away from the edge to reach the menu. LAB activities may open as a gray screen. Converted text may delete other ink if it’s too close to the ink that is being converted. Student annotations using the equation editor in the Whole-class Whiteboard are not visible in iQ Whiteboard. The whiteboard may enter an infinite loading loop when opening Notebook files that include equations. The toolbar may disappear when the whiteboard returns to full screen from split screen. Some non-English button captions might not fit properly within the button. Notebook’s “Match ’Em Up” LAB activity does not run at this time. The toolbar may reset to the default position when the Add Content window is open or when Web/Display switch is used.

Android 13 | Networking issues in Android 13 By default, Android 13 does not connect to Wi-Fi networks with a hidden SSID. To connect to such a Wi-Fi network, go to the Add Network screen and fill in the Wi-Fi network details manually. Then select the drop-down under Hidden Network and select Yes. Android 13 does not allow the display to go into Standby if the Wi-Fi hotspot is enabled. Turn off the display’s Wi-Fi hotspot within Settings > Network & internet > Hotspot & tethering when the option is not in use. Android 13 will not allow signed-in users to install additional Wi-Fi certificates on the display. To install Wi-Fi certificates, sign out of any user accounts first. Android 13’s Wi-Fi Randomize MAC address feature refreshes the network adapter’s MAC address only when connecting to a new network or if the MAC address has been in use for more than 24 hours. Organizations that manage devices with static MAC addresses must turn off this feature.
