Product life cycle and customer support program for hardware and embedded software
Customer support is available for any SMART hardware product that has a valid warranty or service plan. If your product has a valid warranty or service plan, you may still be eligible to receive warranty support in compliance with the warranty terms even if your product is discontinued. Otherwise, SMART does not directly support products that have been discontinued beyond the date listed under end-of-assisted support.

If you need information on an out-of-support product or a product with an expired warranty, our online support site offers information about using, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SMART products. You’ll find links to these pages in the table below.
Please note that embedded software and security updates are independent of the hardware warranty. Refer to the details below for our Embedded Software and Security Updates Policy
SMART interactive displays with iQ use automatic over-the-air (OTA) software updates to provide new features, OS upgrades, and security patches for at least five years from the launch of the product. Additionally, for up to ten years following the release of iQ-based interactive displays—even after regular OTA updates end—SMART offers appliance-based upgrade options to ensure older displays continue to have access to our latest software and workflows. This policy far exceeds the requirements specified by Google for Android-based systems, which defaults to a minimum of three years of support from when the product was launched. SMART is committed to ensuring your technology investments stay secure, up-to-date, and relevant over the maximum possible lifecycle.

Terms and definitionsThe SMART product lifecycle for hardware and embedded software defines the following terms as:
Term | Definition |

Discontinued | The product is no longer available for purchase from SMART. SMART will continue to provide customer support and applicable replacements for the duration of the product’s warranty term. SMART will also provide software updates in compliance with out software and security update policy. |
End-of-assisted support | The final stage of the product’s lifecycle, at which point the product is considered as end-of-life. There will no longer be software updates or standard warranty-related services for the product, part, component, or service. At this point, SMART no longer provides assisted support for the product, but self-serve resources are still available. Although the end-of-support date is typically determined by the final warranty period, there may be some of exceptions to this. SMART recommends that you check the warranty status of your hardware product or refer to your service plan, as both will supersede dates listed in the following tables. Note If a product is listed on this page but has an end-of-support date set for the future, the product is considered discontinued. |
Embedded software security updates | Security updates are released as part of regularly scheduled software updates for applicable products. Security updates may come from SMART, the operating system (OS) provider, our vendor partners, or our chipset suppliers as they are made available. These updates are provided at the discretion of SMART. |
Embedded software feature updates | Applicable products may include updatable embedded software for certain functionality. SMART may provide these products with software or firmware updates from time to time which may contain feature improvements, compatibility improvements, patches, and bug fixes. |

If hardware has reached end-of-assisted support, SMART cannot guarantee backwards compatibility with SMART software. Refer to the discontinued products tables below to learn the last supported SMART software version.
